Celebration of the 100th jubilee of the International Association of Tariff-Specialists (IVT) in Trieste:

I October 2011 the International Association of Tariff-Specialists (IVT) celebrates its 100th anniversary. Richard Krix and Prof. Alexander Freud founded the International Association of Tariff-Specialists in 1911 with its headquarters in Trieste. After World War I the association moved its headquarters to Vienna, where the activities are continued until today.

The jubilee event took place on 14 October 2011 in the Sala Maggiore of the Economic Chamber in Trieste. Invited experts from 12 countries were offered a top program of speeches, including discourses about the history of the port of Trieste, as well as about the development of the port and navigation at this location. Univ. Prof. Dr. Sebastian Kummer from the Vienna University of Economic Sciences explained the challenges for Austrian seaport hinterland traffic as well as external trade routes via Trieste as an alternative to northern seaports.

The association has the official name “International Association of Tariff-Specialists” – Organisation of Tariff and Transport Experts -, short IVT, and is headquartered in Vienna. The function of this association is to support expert interests in the sectors of transport business and logistics on an international scale, through organising diverse events for the exchange of expert knowledge.
