20 years of logistics services in the Slovak Republic

“In the past 20 years, we have succeeded in continually expanding our service offerings and business volume,” said Reinhard Lange during the event and expressed his confidence in the future development of the Slovakian organisation. Kuehne + Nagel was among the first companies to enter the Slovak market after the profound political transformation in Eastern Europe. Today, the company ranks among the country’s leaders in the logistics market and its 183 experts offer the full range of air, sea, road and rail and contract logistics services. The warehouse space under management amounts to 22,000 sqm.

While in the beginning Kuehne + Nagel offered seafreight services for local customers, it opened its first warehouse only one year later. In 1994, the company established its second branch office in Kosice. Due to the growing demand for integrated logistics services, since 2006, Kuehne + Nagel operates a multifunctional terminal, ideally located near Bratislava airport. In the same year, the company also gained the necessary licences (GDP and GMP) to handle pharmaceutical goods and medical devices and added temperature-controlled facilities and transportation to its services.

“Today, we focus in particular on high-tech, industrial goods, engineering, automotive as well as the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry offering specialised services such as co-packing, transportation of high-value goods, chartering of vessels or heavy lift services,” said Radoslav Miko, Managing Director of Kuehne + Nagel Slovak Republic. “To ensure high quality and efficiency for our customers, we will continue to extend our service portfolio and strengthen our position. Furthermore, we will concentrate on developing our domestic and international road transportation activities and enlarging our warehouse space for special goods such as pharmaceuticals.”
