24plus general cargo cooperative waves good bye to economic crisis

General cargo cooperative 24plus was joined by Somat AG in Bulgaria and KLG Europe Logistics in Romania in 2010

The general cargo cooperative 24plus logistics network left the economic crisis behind in 2010 and increased the turnover within the network by 9.5 per cent to EUR 420.6 million (previous year: EU 384 million). The number of shipments in the network grew 6.5 per cent to 1.65 million units; tonnage increased 3.1 per cent to 1.65 million tons in 2010. “Turnover grew disproportionately strong compared to tonnage and shipments. This resulted from a higher demand for scheduled and value added services, but also from price increases“, the management announces in a press release.

The number of domestic partners in the network remained stable in 2010 at 48. The Logwin branch in Karlsfeld, the Pfefferkorn forwarding company in Heilbronn and the Dischinger forwarding company’s branch in Gebersbach-Döbeln have left the network. Hansa-Barth GmbH in Unterschleißheim, Wincanton Heilbronn and the Robert Müller GmbH branch in Trebsen in turn joined 24plus. As for abroad activities in 2010, Somat AG in Bulgaria and KLG Europe Logistics S.R.L. in Romania have become new partners of the 24plus network. The number of partners is now 64.

„In the 2010 business year we managed to overcome the crisis“, explains 24plus manager Peter Baumann. “In line with the general cargo logistics industry we profited from catch-up effects of the economy.” Once these effects phased out, 24plus expects moderate growth in volume and prices in general for 2011.
