265,000 sq ft rail hub plans move forward following revisions

Plans for low-density rail hub at the former Daw Mill Colliery in Warwickshire are moving forward, following revisions, which have reduced the size of the overall built development by nearly two thirds to 265,000 sq ft.

Developer Harworth Estates revised plans following input from community groups, local residents, councillors and potential occupiers on the existing application.

This revision significantly cuts the proposed amount of traffic to and from the site, with HGV movements to be cut to around 50 per day and commuter traffic to be half of what it was when the site was a working colliery.

Owen Michaelson, CEO of Harworth Estates, said: “We’ve directly responded to the views of local people by reducing the size of the development by nearly two thirds from our original planning application.

“A number of rail-related occupiers have already expressed an interest in Daw Mill without the site being formally marketed, reflecting the lack of existing rail-connected space in the West Midlands.”

Harworth will hold an open public consultation on Tuesday 14 July from 5.00pm-8.00pm at Nether Whitacre Village Hall, Station Road.
