A.P. Moller-Maersk Group charges Damco with additional tasks
| Damco becomes A.P. Moller-Maersk’s sole forwarding and logistics brand As of September 7, 2009 the supply chain management business and the forwarding segment of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group will have a new organisational structure. The SCM activities currently operated by Maersk Logistics will be integrated into the forwarding division acting under the name Damco. As of autumn the complete division will act under the name Damco and serve the worldwide customer circle consisting of more than 10,000 companies. The 2-brand strategy will be kept until then. Maersk Logistics and Damco employ around 10,500 persons in 272 offices in 92 countries. This “crew” handled more than 500,000 TEU and more than 60,000 tons of air freight around the globe last year.
