Air New Zealand off the hook with US DOJ

The US Department of Justice Antitrust Division has released Air New Zealand from its investigation into alleged air cargo cartel activities.

After five years of protesting its innocence, the airline has received confirmation in writing that it is no longer a subject or target of the ongoing grand jury investigation.
Competition regulators around the world launched investigations into the air cargo industry in 2005. To date, fines imposed on those airlines that admitted guilt or have been found guilty exceed US$1 billion.

Air New Zealand has also been cleared of alleged cartel activities by the European Commission and the Korean Fair Trade Commission, and in April this year the New Zealand Commerce Commission dropped its case against six of the airline’s executives.
