AirBridgeCargo Airlines to put more emphasis on Frankfurt

Concept of ‚air freight supermarket‘ gives wings to AirBridgeCargoAirlines; the airline has matured to a global player in 10 years

These days AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC) is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Launched as a liner service of the Volga-Dnepr group in 2004, the airline has meanwhile become one of the world’s biggest providers of scheduled freight flights. The global player in the cargo market is today calling about a dozen countries, connecting the major economic areas in Asia, Europe, Russia and North America. By their own account the airline offers its customers flexible cargo handling within 48 hours on all their flights.

“As a trustworthy and reliable partner ABC always finds a customer-specific transport solution. This includes every type of cargo, also shipments with special handling requirements, or temperature-sensitive transports“, Denis Iljin, Executive President of Moscow-based AirBridgeCargo, said in a press talk in Frankfurt on May 23.

In spite of the turbulent situation in the global economy the airline has been able to expand its offering gradually and improve the quality over the past decade. Whereas ABC had only one freighter of the Boeing 747-200 type in its founding year 2004 and called five destinations, the number of aircraft has meanwhile increased to twelve machines (five Boeing 747-8F and seven Boeing 747-400), calling 23 destinations.

The airline entered its anniversary year 2014 with a record: With a total cargo volume of 86,500 tonnes, they achieved the strongest quarterly results in their history. This means a nine per cent increase on the same period of last year.

In addition to strengthening existing markets ABC also relies on a continuous expansion of the route network. Thus, it was accepted as a new target in the U.S. Dallas and increases the frequency of flights to Chicago. In Europe, Leipzig / Halle, Munich and Malmö found three new destinations included in the route network. There are also direct flights between Frankfurt and Chicago. „We plan to further expand our presence in Frankfurt, where we are already the number two today,“ Denis Ilyin conceded. Currently ABC Germany joins largest cargo airport with 14 flights per week to destinations in the United States as well as the Moscow hub with numerous destinations in Asia.

With the concept of ‚air freight supermarket‘ ABC distinguishes itself from the tough market environment, explained Denis Ilyin. The air freight supermarket combines the best suitable and cost-efficient aircraft and logistics solutions for every transport. Charter or cargo flights of the entire Volga-Dnepr group are available therefore. In addition, ABC counts on the Quality Management System of Cargo 2000, and has passed with success the IOSA audit for operational safety procedures of international air transport association IATA.
