Blue Water Shipping experienced significant growth in 2013

Danish Blue Water Shipping sees positive development except for lower profit in 2013 as the only downer

Blue Water has seen the positive development from recent years continuing in 2013. With the addition of 10 new offices – some of which through acquisitions – the company has become a more broad-based and stronger company during 2013. The group has produced a record turnover of about EUR 602 million in 2013, according to Kim Hedegaard Sørensen, Managing Director of Blue Water. Thus turnover increased by about EUR 47 million or around 8,4 per cent compared to 2012. The earnings before tax in 2013, about EUR 5 million, are lower than the record profit from of last year, which was about EUR 11 million.

„It is not a satisfying result as it is below our budget. However, it is the only parameter, which is not satisfying for us regarding 2013”, says Kim Hedegaard Sørensen. The reasons therefore were the establishment of new offices, the acquisition of three companies and the investment in new buildings in the Port of Esbjerg, he explains.

Blue Water Shipping was established in 1972 in Esbjerg, Denmark. In addition to its own offices throughout Denmark, the group also runs offices in countries around the North Atlantic, in Western and Eastern Europe, in Central Asia and the Middle East, in the Far East and North and South America. Blue Water provides transport solutions tailored to the customers’ needs and requirements, accepting all types of cargo, as well as additional services, such as storage, handling, marking and packing, customs clearance or transport insurance of goods.
