Aramex Wins Green Apple Environment Award

Logistics Leader Receives Gold International Award

The Green Association, a prestigious international environmental group, has highlighted Aramex’s wide commitment to community development, through its cost-effective environmental and sustainable business practices.

The 2008 Gold International Green Apple Award was awarded to Aramex for Environmental Best Practice and Sustainable Development – Asian region – in the Commerce and Industry category. Camille Nasrallah, CEO Europe, Aramex, accepted the award on the company’s behalf at the gala ceremony held on 10 November at the House of Commons in London.

The Green Apple Award judges commented, “This global logistics company aims to be the first to operate in a carbon-neutral manner, and their expenditure underlines their intentions. Investment in electric and hybrid vehicles and dramatic reductions in paper and plastic use have helped get their footprint to a more manageable size.”

The Green Apple Award judges base awards criteria on the following key merits: environmental, social and economic benefits; innovation; commitment to achieve aims by senior personnel involved; quantitative evidence of impact; future further development plans; and possible adoption by others.

Aramex’s award-winning paper on “Environmental Commitments” – selected from a field of some 500 entries submitted by companies, councils, and communities – will be published in The Green Book, the world’s only work of reference on environmental best practices. It is distributed worldwide to encourage others to follow awardees’ leadership examples in projects that enhance the environment. Aramex will also receive a Green Hero Wall Shield during a special ceremony to be held aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia in Edinburgh next February.
