Arkas Holding celebrates vessel-jubilee
With the acquisition of two new container vessels the Arkas Holding consolidates its position as a top protagonist of the liner shipping industry in Turkey. At the Peene shipyard in Germany two container vessels, each offering a capacity for 1,604 TEU, were taken over recently. Thus the fleet now comprises 25 vessels in total, offering a capacity of 29,021 TEU. In 2009 two more container vessels shall be added to the fleet. Since its establishment in 1944 the Arkas Holding evolved into a strongly diversified group comprising of about 40 companies. The portfolio covers the fields of liner shipping, shipping agency, terminals, transportation/logistics, insurance services and tourism. As for international general cargo the holding cooperates tightly with DB Schenker, and works in partnerships with MSC and Hapag-Lloyd in the liner shipping industry.
