Fercam Group defies CEE-competition

Fercam Group shows substantial rise in turnover 2008

The aimed turnover of EUR 500 million will be missed marginally, but nevertheless the Fercam Group, based in Bolzano, South Tyrol, shows a considerably improved productivity rate in 2008 according to their own statements. Concerning the turnover Walter Mitterer, Manager Marketing & Sales, expects a figure of about EUR 485 million. This would equal a 7%-increase compared to the year 2007. Next year the group expects a double-digit percentage growth rate. “The bottom of the economic crisis is already past”, Managing Director Dr. Thomas Baumgartner says confidently.

In the financial year 2008 Fercam Group employed around 1,350 persons at 53 locations in Europe and a subsidiary in Morocco. They showed an above-average growth rate in the fields of air/sea freight (+ 25.2% turnover) and logistics (+ 29.7%). The international distribution logistics division of the group generated a turnover of EUR 80 million, which equals an 11%-increase compared to 2007. In this sector the 36 Fercam locations in Italy are cooperating with the Dachser Group.

In the „Full Truck Load“-division the enterprise effected almost 200,000 transportations throughout Europe and will show a turnover of EUR 250 million (+ 4.2%). “In this context the general economic situation but also the East European competitors give us a hard fight. In order to call a stop to this, one third of the semi-trailer tractors that are about to be replaced within the first six months of 2009, will be registered in Slovakia, and not in the old member-countries of the European Union”, explained Mr. Baumgartner.
