Internal ideas competition on sustainability with DPD Austria

Parcel service company DPD Austria aims to further reduce emissions and power consumption with the aid of their employees

“How can we save energy or avoid waste in our direct working environment and throughout the company?“ – the DPD Austria parcel service company is asking questions like these to its drivers and employees in all units. They are invited to submit ideas on more sustainability within the company, in the frame of an internal competition.

“As a leading international company of the transport and logistics industry, we are aware of our responsibility of environment, employees and the society“, says DPD Austria’s managing director Rainer Schwarz. “What is particularly important with respect to the environment is the reduction of emissions. We can accomplish this among other things through avoiding air transport, integrating railway services, intelligent route planning and trainings on fuel saving.“

However, sustainability goes far beyond that with DPD. Rainer Schwarz: “We can also move a great deal in our depots. It’s often our local employees, who have good ideas how to save energy or avoid waste.“ To exploit this potential of ideas, the parcel company has organised a competition in which drivers and employees of all business units can submit their ideas.

Every participant receives a little “thank you-present“. The best submissions are evaluated by DPD’s working group on sustainability and implemented if possible. The best ideas will be rewarded with prizes like “sustainable holidays“, a “sustainable smartphone“ and a solar charger.
