Austria to establish a „logistics coordinator“

Austria’s Ministry of Transport reduces basic tariff per kilometre for Euro-VI trucks and establishes a „logistics coordinator“

Austria’s government is taking further action to support the domestic transport and logistics industry. Alois Stöger, Minister of Transport, announced the reduction of the truck toll for particularly environmentally friendly HGVs at a logistics event („Güterverkehr und Logistik – Vom Gesamtverkehrsplan zur Standortoptimierung: Auswirkungen auf Unternehmen und Wettbewerb“) on 28 November 2014 in Vienna.

Effective 1 January 2015, the basic tariff per kilometre for Euro-VI trucks will be reduced from 16.2 Cent to 15.6 Cent. The resulting economies for the industry shall amount to up to EUR 25 million annually. The price for the driver card will be EUR 45 from 1 February 2015.

The member of the government also announced the establishment of a „logistics coordinator“ within the Ministry of Transport. As a central contact, this person will channel wishes and proposals of the mobility industry in the future.
