Austria will be “key country“ for Port of Koper
| Port of Koper keeps strong position for Austrian sea freight Austria is to remain an important trade partner for Port of Koper. Austrian transit amounts to almost 25 percent of the total volume at the Slovenian port. Only Slovenia itself has a higher share with 32 per cent. In absolute figures, last year Port of Koper handled 4.27 million tons of goods with departure or destination points in Austria. 3.07 million tons thereof were importations. The import-segment is dominated by the commodities iron ore (2 million tons), coal (300,000 tons), phosphates and aircraft fuels. In the opposite direction, which means exportations from Austria, 1.187 million tons of timber, paper, steel pipes and rail tracks were recorded. Container traffic from and to Austria totalled to 33,000 TEU; around 75% thereof was exportations. Around 9,000 TEU were stuffed or stripped in Koper. Quelle: Österreichische Verkehrszeitung |
