Austrian Airlines adds liner service to Newark to US-flight schedule

Austrian Airlines to launch five weekly rotations Vienna – Newark, Greater New York, in July 2014

Austrian Airlines is adding a transatlantic service to its long haul program and increasing capacity on existing routes to the US. At the start of this week the management board of the airline announced the opening of a liner service from Vienna to Newark in the US-state of New Jersey and back. From July 2014 a Boeing 767 will be operated five times weekly on this route (daily expect for Tuesdays and Thursdays). Via Newark the partner Continental Airlines offers connections to large parts of the US. Daily flights from Vienna to New York JFK will remain unchanged.

Also the flight offer to Washington and Chicago will be expanded in the summer of 2014: From July 1, 2014 a Boeing 777 will be operated instead of the previous Boeing 767 on the daily route to Washington, which leads to a significant increase in cargo capacity. In response to the high demand offer will be increased on the Vienna-Chicago route in May 2014, from five weekly flights to a daily rotation. The existing daily flights to Toronto, Canada with a Boeing 767 cover the North American range.

The Newark-line is part of an expansion program of Austrian Airlines in long-haul traffic. The company plans to introduce more liner services to overseas destinations. Flights to Hong Kong, Shanghai and Seoul will be considered. Currently, the destinations New York JFK, Chicago, Washington, Toronto, Delhi, Bangkok, Beijing and Tokyo are served from Vienna.
