BALtrans Netherlands boom set to continue
The Netherlands operations of leading Hong Kong-based freight forwarding and logistics group BALtrans, achieved the largest increase in revenue in the current IATA league table of Dutch airfreight agents, jumping a massive 48 places. And the company is predicting a repeat of its success in the next league table, with over 40% growth in both turnover and freight volumes projected for 2007 as a whole. BALtrans’ IATA revenue for the latest year (2006) grew by €3,900,000 to €4,300,000 – an increase of 975% in one year. Its performance propelled it from number 71 to number 23 in the Dutch rankings. The company’s IATA figures exclude an additional €1 million revenue generated for non-IATA carriers. BALtrans’ Netherlands operation was started from scratch in October 2005 by Michel Loots (BALtrans Regional Managing Director, EMEA), John Burgstra (MD Netherlands) and Victor Wever (Deputy MD). The company now employs 45 staff at its Amsterdam and newly-expanded Rotterdam facilities, which include a combined total of 7500 sq.m. of warehouse space. In addition to its main (63%) airfreight forwarding business, BALtrans Netherlands provides ocean forwarding, LCL groupage and third-party logistics services – the latter focused on urgent ships’ spares for a number of major shipowners. Says Loots: “This is a tremendous achievement of which we are very proud. It symbolizes recognition both from the market and our airline service partners, and was the direct result of the sheer hard work of the entire BALtrans Netherlands team.” He concludes: “After such a positive start, we are very optimistic that we can maintain our fast growth with the support of the growing BALtrans worldwide network.” About BALtrans For further information, please contact: BALtrans Logistics BALtrans Holdings Limited Or BALtrans Holdings Limited |
