BMW Group awards major project for spare parts logistics to Hellmann

Hellmann Worldwide wins tender to operate the new spare parts warehouse of the BMW Group in Bavaria

Hellmann Worldwide Logistics will operate the new spare parts logistics warehouse of the BMW Group in Kleinaitingen near Augsburg, Bavaria.

Having won the tender in September, the warehouse shall be integrated into the operating processes of the Munich-based automotive manufacturer in the first quarter of the year 2016.

The more than 70,000 m² warehouse will offer space for spare parts and accessories to supply the BMW retail networks in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse. This project will create about 220 new jobs in this region.

We are very pleased having won the tender against our competitors, and having been able to convince the BMW Group with our new warehousing concepts “, said Bernd Oevermann, Global Director Automotive Logistics Hellmann Worldwide Logistics. “In Kleinaitingen we will be storing about 80,000 different parts on behalf of the BMW Group, supplying a network of more than 300 BMW-retailers in southern Germany. Every day more than 25,000 positions will be in goods dispatch“, Bernd Oevermann explained the pending project.
