Carlsberg to open major strategic hub in Northampton

Carlsberg is acquiring a new 640,000 sq ft strategic warehouse and distribution hub at developer Roxhill¹s Brackmills Point scheme in Northamptonshire.

A planning proposal has been submitted to the council by the developer which details Carlsberg¹s proposed new facility, which is on land adjoining Roxhill¹s Brackmills Point scheme south of Bedford Road in Northampton.

It is expected that it will secure 230 jobs in the region, which is already home to one of Carlsberg’s two main breweries in the UK as well as a bottling plant.

The 21m high cross dock unit will boast 585,088 sq ft of warehouse space, with 21,528 sq ft of mezzanine as well as a four storey 26,996 sq ft office block. It will have 10 loading doors with a 6m canopy on its western frontage with a further 26 dock and 30 loading doors on its northern frontage. There will be an additional 140,000s q ft  yard for storage as well as parking for 130 trailers and 307 cars.

The property will be built to BREEAM Very Good and the 43.8 acre triangular site will be extensively landscaped.

Developer Roxhill will develop the property for Carlsberg which will own and run the facility once completed. It is hoped that work can begin shortly with practical completion scheduled for Spring 2015 with the view to becoming fully operational in Autumn 2015.

Savills advised on the planning application.
