Certified quality for food in DB Schenker’s land transport

DNV GL confirms certificate for food of the pan-European product portfolio of DB Schenker Logistics’ land transport

Det Norske Veritas Germanischer Lloyd (DNV GL) has certified the services of DB Schenker’s land transport. The granted network certificate covers the pan-European product portfolio consisting of DB SCHENKERparcel, DB SCHENKERsystem, DB SCHENKERdirect and DB SCHENKERhangartner.

For the first time, the certification additionally confirms that the established system for transporting, handling and storing of wrapped and packed dry foodstuffs is in accordance with HACCP food safety principles (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points). The group certification covers 730 locations in all countries being part of the DB Schenker Land Transport network and is subject to regular surveillance audits by DNV GL.

This special kind of product certification is a key element of the DB Schenker Logistics quality understanding in land transport which is based on customer demands and the three quality goals: on-time delivery of cargo and corresponding information, complete and undamaged delivery of cargo and corresponding information, and correct invoice.

“The certification beyond ISO 9001 standard is closely related to our business processes and sets high benchmarks in land transport,” says Karl Nutzinger, member of the management board of Schenker AG and responsible for land transport. ”In combination with the ISO 9001 certification, in all countries we offer our customers proven quality at highest level.”

DNV GL will continue checking the compliance of the land transport network with the own harmonised high level standards in the European network. These standards have been developed over years in tight cooperation with the national branches, and introduced through the network management.
