China opens to Austrian carriers

The China-Europe-China road corridor offers excellent opportunities to boost international trade, according to the IRU (International Road Transport Union). According to an industry estimate, road transport between China and Europe within the TIR system could save logistics companies up to 50 per cent of door-to-door costs compared to air freight, or at least ten days in delivery time compared to rail.

In September 2018, Kazakhstan and China opened the border crossing at Khorgos to enable traffic and trade along the new 8,445-kilometer expressway connecting Western China to Western Europe. Since May 18th, 2018, Carnet TIR transportation has been enabled on the territory of the People’s Republic of China.

Chinese entrepreneurs are keen to find reliable partners from the EU and Austria to ship goods to the EU. The IRU would actively support the European and Austrian transport companies in arranging and carrying out transport business with their know-how.

Austrian transport companies interested in transport orders to China, or from China to the EU are invited to contact by e-mail office@aisoe.at. The AISÖ will then pass this on to the IRU office in Beijing.
