Asia’s biennial technical textiles and nonwovens trade event covers more than 20,000 sqm of exhibition space
 
China’s rapid urbanisation development drives technical and nonwovens consumption forward
 
Cinte Techtextil China 2012 is scheduled to take place from 22 – 24 October in Shanghai, so far occupying an exhibition area of over 20,000 sqm total with further growth expected. The last Cinte Techtextil China in 2010 also showed an increase over its previous show with 320 exhibitors from 21 countries (over 6% plus) met with more than 18,000 visitors from 59 countries (over 41% plus).
 
This biennial technical textiles and nonwovens trade event is co-located with leading industry events Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, Yarn Expo Autumn and the China International Knitting Trade Fair at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.
 
“China’s rapid urbanisation landscape, strong government support coupled with a need for innovative technologies, provide the perfect backdrop for international technical textile and nonwovens suppliers to explore new business possibilities,” commented Ms Wendy Wen, Director Trade Fairs for Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, organiser of the fair. She continued: “The fair’s growing exhibition space proves, we’re catering to an evolving market place and, we’re happy to provide this much needed trade platform in China.”
 
China’s rapid development drives technical and nonwovens consumption
According to China’s Research Centre, the country’s imported technical textiles and nonwovens amounted to USD 3.4 billion in 2011. Top imported products include plastic coated fabrics, nonwovens, paper making dewatering materials and fabrics, glass fibre, filtration and cord fabrics, which are mostly used in automation, hygiene and medication, wind power and environmental protection areas.
 
On the other hand, China’s technical textiles and nonwovens production reached 9.1 and 3.1 million tons and increased by 11% and 12% respectively in 2011. The export value of products including plastic coated fabrics, canvas, packaging fabrics, nonwovens, hygiene and medical products amounted to USD 16.3 million, a 26% increase as compared with 2010. The main exporting countries are Korea, India, Japan, the US and Vietnam.
