CKYH-shipping companies cease Europe-services

Shipping alliance CKYH rationalises global route network

The CKYH shipping alliance formed by the Coscon, „K“ Line, Yang Ming and Hanjin shipping companies is streamlining and rationalising the schedules as a response to decreasing demand for capacities for the shipment of containerised seafreight. The EMX-services (East Med Express) from Asia to Israel and Greece was ceased only recently. The ADX-service (Aegean Sea Direct Express) from Asia to Turkey is on trial. In case of a negative result of the current market analysis it might meet a similar fate.

The capacity of the TAS-1-service (North Trans Atlantic Express Service) from Antwerp, Bremerhaven, Rotterdam and Le Havre to New York, Norfolk and Charleston Soeben has just been cut by 18 percent. The CNX-service from China to northern Europe is to be ceased by the end of January 2009. This reduced the offer on the routes between Asia and northern Europe by 9 percent, as the members of the CKYH stated in a press release.
