DB Schenker logistics terminal in Sofia officially inaugurated

New DB Schenker logistics facility in Sofia provides comprehensive portfolio of integrated logistics services

Yesterday the new logstics terminal of Schenker EOOD Bulgaria was officially opened in Bozhuriste near Sofia. The construction had been implemented within a period of 14 months. The investment totals around EUR 10 million.

At the location Bozhuriste, in the north-west of Bulgaria’s capital DB Schenker operates a terminal with 2,000 sq. m. cross docking area and 3,000 sq. m. (or 4,000 pallet slots) for logistics activities. The special feature is their own two track connections with a total length of 220 metres. On this basis the globally active forwarding group wants to increase their commitment in the rail segment from and to Bulgaria.

There are also signs for growth in the contract logistics segment. Elmar Wieland, CEO DB Schenker Austria and Souteastern Europe, announced in Sofia sustainable investments to strengthen their position as a special provider of outsourcing solutions. DB Schenker has 150 employees at 7 locations in Bulgaria. The enterprise acts as a full service provider of forwarding and logistics services, including fair/event logistics and project handling.
