Continental increase prices for commercial vehicle tyres

Strong increase in raw material costs induced Continental to reorganise its pricing for tyre replacement business

The operators of the European truck fleets will have to face new financial burdens. The prices for commercial vehicle tires from Continental’s European headquarters in Germany (Hannover) will rise 5.5 percent on average as of May 1, 2010. “This price increase applies to tire replacement business all over Europe”, the company announced at the beginning of this week. Continental is thus reacting to the massive rise in raw material prices, above all for oil and natural rubber, since the second half of 2009.

Continental has 134,500 employees in 46 countries and generated a turnover of about EUR 20 billion in 2009, which makes them a worldwide leading automotive supplier. Being a provider of brake systems, engine and chassis systems and components, instrumentation, infotainment solutions, vehicle electronics, tyres and technical products made of elastomers, the company increases the driving safety and makes its contribution to global climate protection, as they state.
