CRST International acquires STI

Iowa-based CRST International has acquired Indiana-based Specialized Transportation, Inc (STI), a provider of customised supply chain solutions for products that require high touch support, special handling and equipment, and value-added on-site services.

Now an independent company, STI was formerly the High Value Products/Logistics division of North American Van Lines. STI has 500 owner-operators and works through an extensive network of 150 agents in the US and Canada.

"With this acquisition, CRST International’s projected annual revenue will be in excess of $1.3 billion and will make CRST one of the largest and most diversified transportation companies in the US," said CRST president & CEO Dave Rusch.

He added that STI supplements CRST’s current business of expedited van, flatbed, dedicated fleet and transportation management services by giving the company access to a new network of agents and 45 distribution centres in key metropolitan areas in North America.

CRST International is already one of the largest specialised trucking companies in the US, employing more than 4,400 drivers and office personnel, as well as 2,500 independent contractors across the US.
