Dachser Austria’s food logistics meets requirements of HACCP principles (Hazard Analysis an Critical Control Points):
In July Dachser Austria passed the hygiene management audits based on the HACCP concept in July. The certifying body confirmed that the Austrian Dachser branches boast an extremely well-functioning internal monitoring system. Process, operational and personnel hygiene were put to the test as well as the internal monitoring system based on HACCP principles in the distribution chain of ambient foodstuffs.
The auditor lauded the four Austrian branch offices in Hall in Tirol, Hörsching near Linz, Lannach near Graz and Himberg near Vienna for their well-conceived and implemented hygiene management systems both in terms of storage and distribution. "The result makes us very proud and shows our food customers that their merchandise is in good hands with Dachser," said Alfred Miller, Managing Director of Dachser Food Logistics.
In addition to the hygiene-relevant processes for distribution, the auditor also assessed integrated crisis management in the Dachser branches. For example, a delivery stop by a customer was simulated. The result: The transportation of goods to the consignee was suspended immediately. “Furthermore, the audits were proof that the control measures in place in order to prevent and remedy risks were suitably and sufficiently defined and could be realised accordingly”, the enterprise states in a press release.
HACCP stands for Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points and serves to ensure the safety of foodstuffs and the protection of consumers. Food operations – and this also includes food logistics providers – must apply an internal monitoring system on the basis of this concept in order to be able to identify, assess and manage the health risks from foodstuffs.
Dachser Austria procures and distributes ambient foodstuffs in Austria via a network of six Austrian and German branch offices, organizes Europe-wide imports and exports for Austrian food suppliers and retailers and offers comprehensive warehousing services.
