Dachser builds Food Logistics Terminal in Hamburg

Large-scale investment of Dachser Food Logistics in northern Germany

Dachser Group is building a second terminal for the warehousing of temperature-controlled goods in Hamburg. On a 35,000 square metres area in the Allermöhe district a facility offering a 5,600 square metres refrigerated throughput area and a 2,400 square metres office hall will be constructed until September. The investment totals to EUR 18.5 million.

As the new terminal starts operating, it will provide loading platforms where 61 trucks can be handled simultaneously. Dachser will use the new building as a hub for European-wide distribution logistics for customers from the north German food industry and trade. Moreover the company plans to integrate the business activities of the Tank Group that have been acquired in summer 2008. Dachser Food Logistics expects around 2,500 consignments with a total weight of 1,800 tons per day at the new terminal.
