Dachser offers extended services for the life science industry
Accreditation as qualified envirotainer provider opens up new possibilities for Dachser regarding the forwarding of actively refrigerated airfreight products
The Dachser Group’s efforts for a stronger positioning in the pharma industry have proven successful. The Swedish company Environtainer has accredited the forwarding company for the handling of airfreight transports of pharmaceutical products according to the good distribution practice (GDP) guidelines. Dachser hereby extends their service range of the life science sector regardigng actively refridgerated airfreight products.
More and more often pharmaceutical products are transported across major distances. In these transports strictly controlled temperature ranges are of the utmost importance so that shelf-life and medical properties are not negatively affected. "We ourselves, our customers and the authorities expect high quality standards in the transports of these highly sensitive goods", says Thomas Reuter, general manager of Dachser Air & Sea Logistics.
The cooperation with Envirotainer is based on this principle. The Swedish company is market leader in the segment of actively temperature-controlled airfreight containers and has accredited Dachser as qualified environtainer provider (QEP). In a first phase the Dacher branches Frankfurt, Munich, Münster-Osnabrück and Stuttgart have been accredited. The goal is the expansion of the partnership on a global level. Besides actively refrigerated transports of air- and seafreight, Dachser offers solutions for passive temperature control using validated isolated packaging. In both areas the temperature is recorded across the whole leg of transport and the figures are made available to the customers.
Environtainer produces and rents airfreight containers with active temperature control and is global market leader in secured cold chain logistics for the pharma and biotech industry. The company only includes providers in its QEP programme that can guarantee professional handling of the "Environtainer"-units.
