Deutsche Afrika Linien (DAL) adds North Africa and Turkey to its international network of shipping services

With immediate effect Deutsche Afrika Linien DAL/John T. Essberger Group of Companies is offering a weekly service from North West Europe to North Africa and Turkey. It connects London Gateway, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Bremerhaven and Hamburg via Algeciras (Spain) with Agadir, Casablanca and Tangier (Morocco), Tunis (Tunisia), Oran and Algiers (Algeria) as well as Izmir, Marport, Yilport and Mersin (Turkey).

Transit times amount from at least three days between Rotterdam and Algeciras in northbound to 36 days from Antwerp to Mersin in southbound. DAL will use 8 vessels with a loading capacity from 4,000 TEU to 4,700 TEU.

In 1941 John Theodor Essberger took over 1890 found Deutsche Ost-Afrika-Linie and formed the privately owned Deutsche Afrika-Linien/John T. Essberger Group of Companies to be part of the dry cargo market. Today the company-owned container vessels are equipped for the carriage of refrigerated containers through the tropical regions of Africa. The shipping line DAL operates container and general cargo services from Europe to the Canary Islands, Eastern and Southern Africa, Indian and North African Ocean ports.
