Damco opens warehouse in Dubai for high tech customers

Damco has opened a new warehouse facility in Jebel Ali in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) for customers in the high tech industry.

Jebel Ali has gradually become the logistical centre of the UAE and as such had to handle an increased amount of cargo. The establishment of the Jebel Ali Free Zone has accelerated this trend. It is an industrial area surrounding the port, which allows the international companies relocating to the area to enjoy the special privileges of the free zone. These include exemption from corporate tax for fifteen years, no personal income tax, no import or export duties, no restriction on currency, and easy labour recruitment.

"Dubai is very much a hub for multinational companies and other international industries. We have experienced an increase in demand from our customers, so we have expanded our facilities in Dubai with a 12,000 sq m new facility", said Morten Laerkholm, Global Head of Consumer Electronics, Damco. "The new Dubai cargo facility is located in close proximity to the Jebel Ali International Airport and Jebel Ali Port, which is considered as one of the world’s largest container handlers, so we can offer a very effective infrastructure for our customers."

Despite the new facility, Damco announced it is already monitoring the market for additional space as demand is constantly increasing.
