DB Schenker gives the golden glow to the Life Ball 2015
Vienna: Life Ball 2015-preparations enter the hot phase; DB Schenker forwards 70 tones of freight from all over Europe to Vienna’s City Hall
The preparations for the 23rd Life Ball 2015 are entering hot phase. The lavish ball under this year’s motto „Gold – Ver Sacrum“ will be on stage on 16 May 2015 for the 23rd time – more specifically it will be a revolving stage, which was first installed for the first time and allows actors to access from all sides.
The round stage is crowned by an enlarged replica of the golden dome of the Vienna Secession. This year, as the official logistics partner of the charity event for the 8th time, DB Schenker takes over the transport of a total of 70 tonnes of stage elements and technique, costumes and decorative items such as gold-colored animal figures.
True to the motto „After the ball is before the ball“ the entire logistics is handled via the network of DB Schenker. „The road transport from all over Europe as well as air freight will be coordinated from the trade office in Vienna,“ explains Mag. Alexander Winter, Member of the Board of DB Schenker in Austria and South Eastern Europe to the Austrian transport magazine Österreichische Verkehrszeitung. Two DB Schenker employees are designated for three months to 100 percent for the organisation of the ball logistics; during the hot phase, up to ten administrative employees take care of the tasks in this project. In addition, a Life Ball branded truck and a small truck are exclusively available for the ball logistics during this period.
A very special challenge this year will be the dismantling and removal. The day after the Life Ball, the City Hall square must be prepared for the public viewing event for the Euro Vision Song Contest. Around 90 per cent of the material has to be removed at the same evening, while the guests will still be dancing in the town hall, adds Alexander Winter.
