DB Schenker Hörsching celebrates its 10th anniversary

DB Schenker branch in Hörsching handles about 1 million shipments per year

12 years ago, DB Schenker made the decision to set up a location in Hörsching. Geographically located between Wels and Linz the terminal replaced both previously operated locations from 2002. About 250 employees are working at the facility situated close to Linz airport, extending over a total area of 90,000 m² (6,000 m² forwarding terminal and a 12,000 m²-logistics centre providing 13,000 pallet slots). In addition to a fleet of about 50 short distance vehicles and its own fuel station the site has its own rail track. The services range from land transport and air/sea freight to warehousing logistics, special transport, fair and moving logistics. Last year they handled about 1 million shipments with a total weight of 1.3 million tons and generated turnover at EUR 123 million.

The transport and logistics enterprise celebrated the first decade of successful operation of its branch in Hörsching together with partners and customers at the Schlossmuseum in Linz. In this festive setting Elmar Wieland, CEO Schenker & CO AG, confirmed once again the decision of setting up the location in Hörsching. As Urs Meier, former world-class football referee, pointed out in his speech about taking decisions he held on this occasion, it is essential for the further development of any enterprise to consciously enjoy reached targets. In the coming years the biggest challenges in Upper Austria will be: volatility of cargo volumes, shortage of cargo hold and sustainability.
