DB Schenker Logistics takes over heavy transport for OAO RusHydro

Russian branch ZAO Schenker carries ABB transformers 4,000 km from St. Petersburg to Novosibirsk

DB Schenker has recently delivered four power transformers of the ABB Group from the port of St. Petersburg to a hydroelectric power station in Novosibirsk, covering a distance of around 4,000 kilometers. The cargo of OAO RusHydro, with a total weight amounting to more than 280 tonnes, was transported partially dismantled.

The Russian branch ZAO Schenker assumed gathering documents for customs clearance preparation of the railroad transport of the four heavy-weight pieces – weighing over 60 tonnes each – and obtained the necessary approvals from the authorities for the last mile to the construction site requiring transportation by road.

The cargo was delivered to the grounds of the Novosibirsk hydroelectric power station within less than 20 days from the moment it arrived at the port of St. Petersburg. The services included customs clearance in the port, delivery of the accessories by road from the port directly to the hydroelectric power station, the transport of the heavy-weight items to Novosibirsk by railroad, the transshipment to trailers, and the delivery to the power station.

ZAO Schenker is the national company of DB Schenker Logistics in Russia and was founded in 1992. Today, the company offers the full range of logistics services via a national network with offices in 24 Russian cities and employs more than 900 staff.
