Transport Management is the growth driver for Quehenberger in 2013

Quehenberger sees strong new business in Germany and Austria and continued expansion of network and contract logistics in Eastern Europe

The Salzburg-based logistics company Augustin Quehenberger Group saw a six percent increase in its turnover from EUR 401 million to EUR 425 million in 2013, thereby raising its earnings for a second year running. The company had easily outperformed the projected growth, Christian Fürstaller and Rodolphe Schoettel, who are the two main proprietors, announced at the company’s HQ in Straßwalchen near Salzburg yesterday.

The fastest growing sector in 2013 was transport management with a growth of 23 per cent. In particular in Germany and in Austria solutions using trailer yards (trailers that get deposited quickly on location, that can be loaded flexibly) as well as a combination of different modes of transport (by truck and by rail) have proven successful. The company’s fleet currently consists of 460 vehicles.

„With investments in the network and in contract logistics, the company’s market position has further improved in Southeastern Europe – an important region,“ said Fürstaller. The company had tapped into new client networks through the development of new products and services, he further states. The strongest growth in new business has been in Germany and Austria.

„The markets are consistently tough and Eastern Europe still has too little dynamism. Provided the economic situation doesn’t get a lot worse, we predict gentle organic growth,“ the CEO said about the current year with cautious optimism.
