First regional distribution centre of the Swarovski group in Singapore directed by DB Schenker Logistics

Swarovski, the globally leading manufacturer of crystal, gemstones, and artificial gemstones, decided to charge Schenker Singapore (Pte) Ltd to establish its first regional distribution centre. DB Schenker will provide storage and value added services for the growing customer basis of Swarovski in the Asia-Pacific region. Moreover, Swarovski charged DB Schenker with air and sea freight from and to Singapore, thus making DB Schenker a fully integrated logistics provider. “DB Schenker has convinced us in Singapore with their logistic skills, professionalism and their great team work in implementing this new project“, says Jens Pries, manager global logistics, Swarovski.

“Swarovski and DB Schenker can look back on a long history of business cooperations in Europe. We were more than pleased when Swarovski asked us to participate in their tendering for their first regional distribution centre”, emphasises Darren Wedding, senior vice president contract logistics/SCM, DB Schenker, in charge of the Asia-Pacific region. “We are looking forward to support Swarovski also in the future with such premieres.“

The DB Schenker logistics facility consists of 4,650 m² air conditioned storage area in Singapore’s free trade zone. With about 80 expert employees DB Schenker will assume inventory record keeping, picking, as well as a wide range of value added services, including testing of gemstones, labelling of large series in several different languages, gift packaging service and printing of specific greeting cards. The TAPA-A certified facility is secured through special safety measures.
