The Bulgarian company of DB Schenker Rail has ambitious targets.  We want to grow further in the coming years and expand the share of border-crossing traffic with Bulgaria. We are convinced about Bulgaria s potential as a logistic hub for international transportations , says Liubomir Garchev, CEO DB Schenker Rail Bulgaria EOOD.

Since the start of this year the Bulgarian cargo railway has formed an important part of the European intermodal network of DB Schenker Rail.

In the frame of the transportation of vehicle parts from Cologne to Kosekoy, Turkey, the company operates the transportations through Bulgaria under their own direction, and passes them over at the Turkish border.  We have a pioneering role. DB Schenker Rail Bulgaria is the first private cargo railway in the Southeast European country with permission to pass or take over trains at the border with Turkey , emphasises Hans-Georg Werner, regional head east in the management board of DB Schenker Rail.

The Bulgarian company of DB Schenker Rail was established ten years ago. Today s DB Schenker Rail Bulgaria EOOD was founded in 2003 with the name Logistic Center Romania SRL Bulgaria, specialising in the field of plant shunting services. The name was changed to DB Schenker Rail Bulgaria EOOD with headquarters in Pirdop, keeping the traction licence for the Bulgarian rail network from 2010.

Since then the cargo railway has been able to establish as a autonomous provider in the Bulgarian transport market and expand its transport services. Today the company is operating throughout the country and has about 230 employees. DB Schenker Rail Bulgaria EOOD has all licences for the Bulgarian railway network and has a market share of about 12 per cent in Bulgarian cargo traffic on the rail. The new name emphasises on their affiliateion to Europe s leading cargo railway enterprise DB Schenker Rail.
