DB Schenker: „Route record“ for the Austrian Ski Federation

The time pressure was “sporty”, because it wasn’t until after the “Night Slalom” in Schladming was over that all the equipment was available for shipping overseas.

The six-tonnes shipment for the men’s speed team left Europe for the U.S. on January 26. Just three days later, everything — including ski waxing tables and slalom poles for the first training sessions — arrived on time in Vail.

The Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV) also sent four tonnes of athletic and training equipment across the Atlantic for the women’s team. DB Schenker transported the roughly twenty-tonnes consignment to North America within 72 hours. A few days after the competition, the equipment will then have to be moved to the World Cup race for men in Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang.

The logistic organisation and planning of overseas activities for the ÖSV’s alpine skiing team keeps the competence center built by DB Schenker in Kufstein busy for nearly the entire year. “We’re very proud of this partnership because it shows that we’re able to meet the ÖSV’s challenging logistics requirements quickly and reliably,” says Armin Kopp from DB Schenker in Kufstein.

For ten years now, ÖSV has been relying on DB Schenker’s expertise for organising and managing shipments to competitions outside Europe and to training camps. ÖSV Athletic Director Hans Pum is also very satisfied with the many years of cooperation between the two partners. “Thanks to the reliable support from DB Schenker, our athletes can concentrate fully on their training preparation, and that’s something we can all really appreciate,” says Pum.
