DB Schenker starts new cross docking terminal in Belgium

Total investment of EUR 13 million: New logistics centre of DB Schenker in Zwevegem to optimise national and international road transport

Establishing a moderne logistics facility in Zwevegem, Belgium, DB Schenker Logistics offers customers in Hainaut, as well as in West and East Flanders a faster connection to the markets in Europe and the world. “With more than 5,000 m² operating area and 2,900 m² office area the new facility offers ideal conditions for high-quality services and future growth“, says Ulrich Pütz, manager of the national branch Schenker NV.

According to company information the new facility built with a total investment of EUR 13 million offers ideal infrastructure for national and international road transport. More than 70 docking gates are available for delivery vehicles for short-distance transport, standard trucks and jumbo trucks. The new building will replace two sites in Waregem, located ten kilometres away, so far operated by about 120 employees.

„We offer our customers the entire range of logistic services, from road transport and air/ocean freight to intermodal concepts”, says Pascal Duhamel, manager of the new DB Schenker-location in Zwevegem. “We connect the region of Flanders to all European destinations by 40 daily scheduled services in a fast and reliable way.”

The new location has its own air freight staff, who registers shipments electronically. A daily shuttle carries export shipments to Brussels airport, collecting import shipments on the return path destined for the region, with delivery the next morning.

With about 680 employees and locations in Antwerp, Brussels, Eupen, Mechelen, Zwevegem, Willebroek, Zaventem and Zeebrugge Schenker NV counts among the leading providers of integrated logistic services in Belgium.
