Temperature controlled business unit of DHL Supply Chain Austria to act under the names TKL and Transcare again

 

In the Austrian market of temperature-controlled logistics and transportations for food is experiencing a comeback of the brand names TKL and Transcare. The Deutsche Post DHL group has sold the shares of the business units of the Austrian subsidiary DHL Supply Chain, which is active in the relevant segment, to the local management with effect from 30 April 2010.

As of now the ceded activities are operated under the name of the newly established TKL Supply Chain GmbH (contract logistics) and of the subsidiaries TKL Lebensmittel Logistik GmbH (deep freeze, bulk consumers and fresh logistics) and Transcare Transport GmbH (temperature controlled transportations). The company group has a leading role in the field of food logistics for retail and consumer goods industry of the deep freeze, fresh and dry products assortment.

The management lies in the hands of Wilhelm Leithner, who commented on the management buy-out as follows: The deep freeze, fresh and bulk consumer logistics segments including temperature controlled transportations in Austria were no core business field of Deutsche Post DHL. After the disposal of the Austrian subsidiaries Tochterfirmen DHL Supply Chain (Austria) GmbH, DHL Lebensmittel Logistik GmbH and DHL Transcare Transport GmbH, had been decided, the Austrian Board of Management of six members has taken over these companies.”

TKL Supply Chain GmbH and the subsidiaries TKL Lebensmittel Logistik GmbH and Transcare Transport GmbH have around 420 employees at three locations (Vienna-Donaustadt, Wiener Neudorf, Salzburg/Bergheim). Almost 60 per cent of the 2009 annual turnover at the amount of EUR 81.7 million were generated by the deep freeze logistics segment, where 250 employees handle 100,000 tons per year, which means warehousing, order-picking and delivery. The other core business units of the private company group are: food logistics in the fresh segment between 1 and 4 degree Celsius, food logistics for gastronomy and hotel industry and temperature controlled transportations for large volume and fine distribution with up to 180 vehicles.
