Thalia intensifies logistics partnership with Rhenus

Rhenus terminal in Hörselgau becomes hub for logistics of bookshop chain Thalia

The Thalia bookshop chain prolongs and intensifies its logistics partnership with the Rhenus group. The cooperation of the two companies, which had begun in 2002, is to be continued until 2018. The Branch supply and B2C business is handled with the distribution warehouse in Hörselgau in Western Thuringia, which is currently under construction. The supply of the 230 Thalia bookshops in Germany and the around 50 locations in Austria and Switzerland will be handled via this facility.

Rhenus provides the complete infrastructure to Thalia in Hörselgau. In the 50,000 m²-logistics centre, which is to be finished until 2011, about 20,000 m² are reserved for books and related products such as writing material, CDs, DVDs or games. Rhenus assumes all logistic tasks in Thalia’s central warehouse. This based on conventional order-picking and the use of conveyor technology. These logistics order from Thalia creates more than 300 jobs in Hörselgau.
