DB Schenker steers a course of eastwards expansion

DB Schenker starts operating new national headquarters and a forwarding terminal in Budapest-Szigetszentmiklós; EUR 11 million for new logistics facility in St. Pölten

DB Schenker Logistics still counts on eastwards expansion. On 15 June 2015 the company inaugurated new national headquarters and a new forwarding terminal in Budapest-Szigetszentmiklós, Hungary. With the start of operations at the new logistics site, all forwarding divisions will be joined at one place. Schenker Kft., the national branch of DB Schenker thus forms the basis for further growth in this region, and finalises the process of integration of all forwarding divisions and Hungarian joint ventures that had been started in 2010.

The new 30,000 m² throughput and logistics halls meet the highest safety requirements according to TAPA and Hygiene (HACCP). Moreover the facility includes a designated ADR-warehouse for hazardous goods. About 400 employees will be working at the new terminal.

Also in Austria, DB Schenker is implementing a major investment totaling EUR 11 million. Until September a 34.000 m² environmentally friendly logistics facility will be built in Lower Austria’s capital St. Pölten, tripling the surface of the logistics company in this province and creating 100 additional jobs.

DB Schenker employs approximately 2,000 persons at 12 offices in Austria. Schenker & Co AG in Vienna serves as the Regional Head Office for South East Europe. DB Schenker currently has a workforce of more than 5,300 staff at 80 locations in the Region’s 14 countries. DB Schenker in Austria and in South East Europe is thus one of the largest national subsidiaries in the DB Schenker global network. Through its climate protection program “DB-Klimaschutzprogramm 2020“ DB Schenker intends to reduce its specific CO2-emissions by 20 per cent worldwide between 2006 and 2020.
