DB Schenker streamlines management for Northern/Eastern Europe

DB Schenker Logistics is grouping together the previous regions of Europe North and East into the single organisational region “Europe North & East”

DB Schenker Logistics is taking up a new position in Europe for the start of 2014. The previous regions of Europe North and East have been grouped together into a single region in order to optimise and simplify the management structure.

The previous Regional Director of Europe East, Göran Åberg, will take over management of the Region Europe North & East. Karsten Keller, formerly Chief Financial Officer of the Region Europe North, will become CFO of the new region.

Ingvar Nilsson, Regional Director for Europe North for the last eight years and head of the Swedish national subsidiary Schenker AB for a long time, is retiring at the end of 2013 after forty years in the industry, including 26 years at DB Schenker. He will provide support to Göran Åberg during the transitional period. The Regional Head Office is based in the Swedish city of Gothenburg.

The new organisational unit is the second-largest region in the global DB Schenker network in terms of sales, and the third largest in terms of number of employees. It comprises Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Ireland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and Belarus.

„With the reorganisation, we are in a better position regarding changing conditions and customer requirements, and we can respond to our customers‘ needs more quickly in a region that continues to be highly interesting from an economic perspective,“ said Dr. Thomas C. Lieb, CEO of Schenker AG, responsible for the business of DB Schenker Logistics.
