DDSG Cargo “sails” under new name
Since recently the inland shipping company DDSG Cargo acts under the name Erste Donau-Dampfschiffahrtsgesellschaft. “The company was merged into the new enterprise last autumn”, Managing Director Janos Litvai exlpained the background in the interview with Österreichische Verkehrszeitung (Austrian Transport Magazine). Erste Donau-Dampschifffahrtgesellschaft has a fleet of 160 vessels and is ranked among the leading providers of transport services on the Danube in Middle and Eastern Europe. Last year 2.2 million tons of goods have been moved. Another 970,000 tons were transported by the Hungarian subsidiary Mahart. According to Mr. Litvai the whole company group achieved a turnover of around EUR 60 million in 2008 and employed around 200 persons at locations in Vienna, Linz, Bratislava, Budapest and Regensburg.
