Decline in cargo volume at Vienna Airport

Management of Flughafen Wien AG hopes for stabilisation of air freight business in 2013
 
The moderate development of the global economy had its effects on air freight business of Flughafen Wien AG in 2012. Cargo volume (incl. trucking) handled by Vienna Airport fell 9.2 per cent year-on-year to 252,276 tonnes in 2012. Air cargo declined 10.9 per cent to 178,054 tonnes, and trucking was 4.8 per cent lower at 74,222 tonnes. For 2013 the management wants to stabilise the volume, they said at the presentation of the traffic figures.
 
Flughafen Wien AG said they have reached their major targets in 2012. “The measures implemented in 2012 to increase productivity and reduce costs for material and staff are producing the desired results. Construction and real estate services were reorganised under new management” , the management board informs. Activities in 2013 will be focussed on the continuation of the corporate strategy as well as the further development of the real estate portfolio and location marketing.
