Declining air cargo volume at Graz Airport

Air freight: Graz Airport shows the expected decline in air cargo volume in 2014; positive development for passenger transport

Following a sensational development in 2013, Graz Airport had to face losses in air freight last year. 9,652 tonnes (2013: 11,281 tonnes) mean a 14.4 per cent decline in volume, which can partly be attributed to special shipments that were carried in 2013, but did not repeat in the reporting period. In addition, exports declined due to the weak economic situation.

In the passenger segment liner as well as charter traffic showed increases. In total they counted 897,421 passengers, which is 1.8 per cent more than in 2013. “The positive development of transport is probably the biggest present for the 100th birthday of Graz Airport“, notes Mag. Gerhard Widmann, managing director Flughafen Graz Betriebs GmbH.
