Declining freight volume at Linz Airport

Cargo volume ‘consolidated’ at Linz Airport in 2012 after considerable growth in the past years
 
Linz Airport suffered losses in air freight business in 2012. After outstanding growth in 2010 and 2011 (+40%) the volume has consolidated last year, reads a press release. In total 43,696 tonnes of air cargo were handled at the Upper Austrian airport (-7.7%). However, the volume directly handled by Flughafen Linz GesmbH grew 18.9 per cent year-on-year. This development results mainly from the new business segments, which Linz Aiport took over last year.
 
With 623,385 passengers travelling at Linz Airport the figure of this reporting period was 8.2 per cent below the figure of 2011. Flight movements rose from 10,671 to 10,894 take-offs and landings (+2.1%).
