Dematic takes control of SDI

Dematic Group has assumed control of SDI Group Europe following its acquisition of the firm’s majority shareholder FSU Investments, with Dematic set to make an offer for SDI’s remaining share capital.

UK-based SDI Group supplies garment on hanger and flat sorter technology, including pouch sorters, pusher sorters and Bombay sorters, throughout Europe. Despite splitting from SDI Group USA in 2010, the combined offering will be made available to Dematic customers globally, including in the US.

Ulf Henriksson, Dematic president and CEO, said: “The addition of garment on hanger and flat sorter technologies, combined with a best in class returns processing solution, offers our customers a true single source modular, flexible and scalable solution provider and partner.”

Andrea di Bella, SDI managing director for Italy, Spain and Switzerland, will succeed Gordon Smith as CEO, with Smith taking an advisory role during the transitional period.

“Dematic is at the forefront when it comes to automated technologies and software for the apparel, retail and ecommerce markets. We look forward to integrating our business into Dematic’s already strong global position and product and service offerings,” said di Bella.
