Deutsche Post DHL wants to significantly grow in logistics until 2015

Air/sea freight, land transport, contract logistics and express segment of Deutsche Post DHL shall set standards with regard to profitability in the future

With targeted measures to increase revenues and profitability Deutsche Post DHL wants to improve its position within the worldwide freight and logistics business until 2015. Moreover the CEO announced “investments into strategic initiatives” at the beginning of this week. For its DHL divisions the group intends to generate annual EBIT growth by an average of 13 to 15 percent through 2015, based on the expected operating profit of more than EUR 1.3 billion this year. This, given the absence of another major global economic downturn.

CFO Larry Rosen stressed that the DHl segments remain committed to grow by 1 to 2 percentage points above the market rates. In the Global Forwarding, Freight division the group expects to increase revenues in air freight by 6 to 8 percent annually and in sea freight by an average of 7 to 8 percent. In the Supply Chain (contract logistics) division, revenues are forecast to climb by an average of 8 to 9 percent.

To reach these goals the group wants to invest into a great number of strategic investments, as CEO Frank Appel announced in Frankfurt.  The core elements therefore are development of innovative products and acquisition of new customer groups, to expand their market position in industrial sectors with potential for growth. They plan specific logistics solutions for the Life Sciences & Healthcare segment, technological enterprises and the energy industry. The customer basis in the segment of large enterprises shall be enlarged as well as commitment to the group of fast growing young enterprises.
