DFDS Group achieved its strategic objectives in 2011

Shipping and logistics activities of the Danish DFDS Group generated clearly positive results in 2011

Business of the Danish shipping and logistics group DFDS developed in 2011 just as the management has expected. ”We implemented the integration of Norfolkline into the DFDS Seaways system as planned, and achieved considerable improvements in the DFDS Logistics division,” says DFDS’ CEO Niels Smedegaard at the presentation of the balance. As for 2012 the Seaways Division expects to keep last year’s level (due to an increasing oil price) and continued improved profits in the Logistics Division.

In 2011 Copenhagen-based DFDS A/S generated an operating result of EUR 213 million from a turnover at EUR 1.6 billion. Operations of the freight division accounted for 80 per cent of DFDS Shipping’s turnover at EUR 1.047 billion. They transported 6.8 million units. Operating result of the division amounted to EUR 190 million. In the 2011 annual report DFDS Logistics posts a turnover at EUR 581 million and an operating result of EUR 23 million. The group has about 5,000 employees in 20 countries.
