DHL announces three new business deals

Singapore-based DNV Petroleum Services has signed a multi-million dollar contract to use DHL’s GOGREEN Carbon Neutral shipping services throughout its global markets, including its specialist laboratories in Singapore, Oslo, Rotterdam, Houston and Fujairah.

The Express Contract covers the outbound transport of DNVPS‘ sampling equipment and the inbound regional transportation of bunker oil samples for testing. For a surcharge, DHL will measure and offset carbon emissions for international air express shipments and provide DNVPS with a certification stating the total amount of CO2 offset on its behalf each year.

DNVPS, a marine fuel management services provider with a two-thirds share of the global fuel quality testing services market, is the first auxiliary service provider in the global maritime industry to sign up for the DHL GOGREEN service.

Barclays Capital has also chosen DHL’s GOGREEN Carbon Neutral service to offset carbon emissions generated by international courier services throughout Asia Pacific – the first time the bank has adopted a region-wide carbon offset solution. 

Since signing up for the service in June 2010, DHL Express has offset 33,420kg for Barclays Capital in Asia Pacific.

DHL has once again been appointed official logistics partner of the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig, and will be responsible for transporting the orchestra’s musical instruments during this year’s Asian and European tour.

To assure the safe transport of the sensitive and unique instruments, which are worth several million euros, DHL uses air-suspended vehicles and temperature-monitoring systems, among other things.
